ELCIC Global Mission

Companion Relationships

The ELCIC has companion relationships with the Lutheran churches in Peru, Argentina, Colombia, Guyana, Jordan & the Holy Land, and Cameroon.

The ELCIC's six companion Lutheran churches are twinned with ELCIC Synods in Global Mission Companion Relationships to engage ELCIC synods, congregations and members in mission with their companion at a personal level.

Here are the ELCIC's six companion churches and the ways in which the ELCIC is in mission with them:

Peruvian Evangelical Lutheran Church (ILEP)

  • 13 congregations, several mission starts and about 1,100 members
  • Annual grant for ILEP pastors' social security benefits
  • Amazon Mission Sponsorship; Pastor Yolie Zavaleta
  • Companion with the British Columbia Synod

United Evangelical Lutheran Church of Argentina (IELU)

Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana (ELCG)

Evangelical Lutheran Church of Colombia (IELCO)

Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cameroon (EELC)


Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land (ELCJHL)

  • About 3,000 members in 6 congregations
  • website: www.elcjhl.org
  • Grant for church-run schools in partnership with Canadian Lutheran World Relief. Participation in the ELCJHL's Coordination Committee for Cooperation
  • Partner church with the ELCIC
  • Companionship agreement with the Eastern Synod
