Norma (Hancock) Alksne, 61, died May 9 in Calgary. With her spouse, Rev. Arnold Alksne, Mrs. Alksne served in New Sarepta, AB (1999–2004), and Calgary (2004 to present). She is survived by Arnold and family.
Rev. Theodore Maakestad, 102, died June 4 in Cedar Falls, IA. Rev. Maakestad served congregations in Edmonton and Thunder Bay, ON, under the ELCA-Canada Synod, and numerous congregations in the U.S.A. under its predecessor denomination the Evangelical Lutheran Church (ELC). He also served as a travelling evangelist for the ELC and taught at Lutheran Bible Institute, Teaneck, NJ. Rev. Maakestad retired in 1976.
Rev. Frithjof Reinhardt, 84, died May 19 in Nanaimo, BC. Rev. Reinhardt served Zion, Kinistino, SK.; Bethany, Friedensthal, MB; Honterus, Youngstown, OH; Landeskirche Hannover; St. Paul’s, Leamington, ON. and St Paul’s. Saint-Laurent, QC before retiring to Nanaimo, BC in 1993. He is survived by his wife, Katja, and family.
