This is a full-time shared position between Canadian Lutheran World Relief (CLWR) and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC) in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Reporting to the CLWR Executive Director, the International Volunteer Coordinator coordinates, promotes and supports the CLWR International Volunteer Service (IVS) and ELCIC Volunteers in Mission (VIM) programs.
As the ideal candidate, you have experience in cross-cultural relationships and will demonstrate an ecumenical commitment, including cooperation with other church mission programs. Knowledge of CLWR, the ELCIC and the Lutheran Church-Canada (LC-C) is a definite asset. You have an understanding of a variety of vocational backgrounds to assist in appropriate volunteer placements, and are willing and able to travel.
Major responsibilities include:
Seeking out, and processing requests for personnel needs from partner churches and institutions.
Recruiting, screening, preparing and placing candidates for IVS and VIM.
Providing support for volunteers while abroad, and upon their return home.
Evaluating, reporting and improving the IVS and VIM programs.
You possess the following qualifications:
Relevant post-secondary education.
Certificate in volunteer management and/or HR management is an asset.
Two years’ related experience in HR or volunteer management.
Knowledge of, and experience with the developing world, in Canada and abroad.
Computer skills in a network environment.
Positive communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of personnel administration procedures.
