From the Office of the National Bishop
Winnipeg, October 18, 2005 (ELCIC)--The National Office of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC) is seeking applicants for the position of Director Stewardship in Public Life. The successful applicant for this position will understand stewardship as the way the church manages its way of life in the service of God’s mission. The general engagement of the church in public policy derives its integrity specifically from its support of the Global Hunger and Development Appeal (GHDA) and its individual members’ support of the church’s corporate life.
This church engages in mission through the complementary relationship of congregational, synod and national expressions. Service in the name of the Gospel is expressed globally, nationally, and regionally through these constituencies. How each constituency values and supports this work is a matter of stewardship education engaging the educational, charitable, social, political and financial commitments of its members’ lives.
The work of this individual will take place in a collegial, interdisciplinary staff team within the national office. Communication, collaboration and task-sharing engage each person’s imagination, originality and creativity. Ability to work with a fluid structure in pursuit of the church’s defined mission is essential. This individual will be a self-defining team player with a high degree of internal organization.
There are three major components to this position.
1. Church-wide stewardship education
2. Manager of the Global Hunger and Development Appeal (GHDA)
