Winnipeg, June 9, 2005 (ELCIC)--Acting on recommendations from the Communications Task Force and direction from National Church Council, ELCIC National Office has hired a Manager of Communications.
Trina Gallop joined National Office staff June 6, 2005. Ms Gallop has had extensive experience in the areas of communication,public relations and management. Most recently she was Assistant to the Director of Public Affairs at the University of Manitoba. Trina's positive and energetic personality promises an exciting time ahead.
Trina says she is delighted to have been asked to join the dynamic and talented team at the ELCIC. "What an amazing opportunity to be able to come to work each day and not only be engaged by doing the work I love but also be surrounded by my faith."
Orientation with National Staff has made it clear to Trina there are high expectations of this new staff position. "The ELCIC has some unique communication opportunities and challenges in its future," she replies. "I look forward to connecting with the community and would like to encourage feedback on our future endeavours."
As Manager of Communications, Trina will be directly accountable to the Assistant to the Bishop for Synodical Relations, will serve as managing editor of all ELCIC communication tools, and will have responsibility for developing and implementing a communications strategic plan that will promote, nurture and support the vision and mission of the ELCIC and its five synod partners.
Elaine Sauer, Assistant to the Bishop for Synodical Relations, says she is excited about the possibilities that this new staff position brings. "I sense a real strength in Trina's skills," said Sauer, "and look forward to her guidance as we work together to design a more focused communication strategy."
