A NEWS RELEASE
From Canada Lutheran
Winnipeg, June 2, 2005 (ELCIC)--Canada Lutheran, the magazine of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada, was presented with first prize in the magazine column category at the 2005 Canadian Church Press Convention held May 25-26 in Ottawa.
"'Justice Agenda', written by the father/daughter team of Erich and Miranda Weingartner has long been one of the most faithfully read and anticipated columns of the magazine" said Canada Lutheran Editor, Ida Reichardt Backman, "We are very proud to have the Weingartners writing for us."
The 2005 Canadian Church Press garnered over 400 entries in 32 separate categories, all to honour excellence in publishing.
The judge’s comments about "Justice Agenda" were very complimentary. "Compelling leads, strong finishes - excellent and economical use of research (quotes, definitions and data) to make your case. The pieces pack emotion and extensive research into a tightly written, well constructed and cogently argued whole. You educate, evoke emotion and convince the reader all at once."
The Canadian Church Press is an association that offers fellowship and support to its members, who are united in a common bond of Christian communication. Members are encouraged, in an atmosphere of Christian openness and concern, to lay aside denominational differences in an effort to maintain high standards of religious journalism.
