WINNERS CHOSEN FOR LUTHERANSWRITE CANADA 2004

Winnipeg, May 10, 2005 (ELCIC)--In 2004, Canada Lutheran magazine, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC) and Augsburg Fortress Canada invited Lutheran writers to submit entries for "LutheransWrite Canada," a writing competition designed to encourage Lutheran writing and journalism.

"We were excited to see that submissions came from throughout the ELCIC," said Canada Lutheran Interim Editor, Ida Reichardt Backman. "They were a real treat to read." Thank you to all who entered and also to those who helped with the judging.

Results of the LutheransWrite Canada 2004 writing competition are in, and congratulations are extended to:

First Place: Rev. Faith Brace Crossroads: Paths That Meet in the Church
Second Place: Rev. Peter Fischer A House Called "Lutheranism"
Third Place: Christina Lewis Matthew 25:31-46

The winning stories will appear in Canada Lutheran in the fall. Awards will be presented at the ELCIC National Convention in Winnipeg on July 23, 2005.

Note: No winner was chosen in the Youth category
