A NEWS RELEASE
From National Planning Committe for the Canadian Youth Gathering
Winnipeg, March 1, 2005 (ELCIC)-- The next Canadian Lutheran Youth Gathering is set to take place in Winnipeg, Manitoba, August 17-20, 2006. The National Planning Committee is already hard at work preparing for the event, which promises to be an exciting and inspiring four days. Entitled "Full Serve," the event focuses on the theme of how we can use our various gifts to serve God's community.
Nearly 2,000 young people from across Canada are expected to come together to participate in what is the largest atteneded event of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC). The last gathering, ListenUP, was held in Hamilton in August of 2004.
At Listen UP, we learned that the gifts God gives us are unique and special, and that we are called to share these gifts with the world. At "Full Serve," we will learn what it means to use our gifts to serve our brothers and sisters in Christ.
We acknowledge that we are rooted in grace, and free to serve, but what does it mean to be rooted in grace, and what does being free to serve look like? Learning how to serve God by serving others is an important part of living out our Christian faith. The Christian church can help youth discover who they are as a creation of God, and how they are part of the bigger picture in the global community.
"Full Serve" will be a time for youth to 'refuel' their faith, and a time to get a 'jump start' on ministry in their communities. Start planning now to join us in Winnipeg at "Full Serve."
