From the Office of the Bishop

Winnipeg, April 16, 2002, (ELCIC) -- National Bishop Raymond Schultz has announced that Mrs. Rhonda Lorch has been appointed as the Coordinator for the ELCIC’s Global Hunger and Development Appeal (GHDA). GHDA is the primary means by which the ELCIC raises money for development and relief work in Canada and around the world.

On February 1, 2002, Rev. David Pfrimmer resigned as GHDA Coordinator in order to focus his attention more directly on public policy issues and as the ELCIC’s representative on the Board of Directors of Kairos: Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives. He had administered the Appeal for the past five years, Rev. Pfrimmer continues to serve the ELCIC as the Director for the Lutheran Office for Public Policy.

Mrs. Lorch had been working closely with Rev. Pfrimmer, and provided program and administrative support to GHDA over the past three years.

“Providing assistance to those in need is central to being a Christian,” says Mrs. Lorch. “GHDA provides a means for ELCIC members to support such efforts. I am honoured to coordinate this important work on behalf of our church.”
