CANCELLATION OF COLLISION WITH CULTURE

Winnipeg, December 6, 2001 (ELCIC) -- Bishop Raymond Schultz, in consultation with people across the ELCIC, has made a decision to cancel “Collision with Culture,” the joint worship and mission event that was scheduled to take place in Winnipeg on August 7-11, 2002. The decision to cancel was made because complications in the planning process undermined the church’s ability to ensure a successful event.

“It is the consensus of those consulted to cancel rather than present a mediocre event,” Bishop Schultz advised the ELCIC National Church Council by memo. He also noted that the cancellation of “Collision with Culture” does not preclude such an event from being scheduled in the future.
