At the March 2009 meeting of National Church Council (NCC), members ratified recommendations from ELCIC Mission in the World (MW) to move towards a new direction for the MW program. The recommendations build on the five pillars established by NCC in March 2008 and have resulted in a new model building on the ELCIC's commitment to the program and addressing the way the ELCIC carries out its mission in the world. Two of the first pillars in particular, Effective Partnerships and Focused Framework, have helped shape this new path forward as we seek to fulfil our call to participate in God's mission in the world. In January 2009, Rev Fran Schmidt was installed as the new ELCIC long-term missionary in Peru and new Volunteers in Mission started their assignments in Cameroon and Guyana. (more) |
