It's a Small World

On Thursday evening, July 17th as Pastor Nancy Kelly of St Mark's Lutheran Church, Kitchener greeted LWF delegate Naomi Shengena of Tanzania there was an outburst of excited squeals.

Naomi recognized Pastor Nancy as someone she had met in her home country in November of 2002.

Naomi Shengana (Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania), the Rev Nancy Kelly (St Mark's, Kitchener ON)

The ELCIC sent Pastor Nancy to visit refugee camps in the northern part of Tanzania before participating in the LWF Interfaith Dialogue on Christian-Muslin Relations in Dar es Salaam. When the meetings finished she had a couple of days in Dar and the church linked her up with Naomi and a friend to keep her company. They spent two days together touring around the city and visiting in homes and churches.

Naomi participated in the LWF pre-visit in the Eastern Synod and was at St Mark's to hear of the congregation's Stephen Ministry program. She was excited to meet Pastor Nancy's family and friends.
