Grace Edson, AB
As a lay person, I was involved in my home congregation in many capacities from Sunday school to Mutual Ministry, to Chairperson. In addition, I have worked with volunteers in several capacities. As a pastor I have been instrumental in re-developing a functional chaplaincy program, introducing a drug program to address community needs, and in fighting a local casino proposal.
I think most people would say that I am well organized and punctual. I enjoy administrative tasks and work well in a team environment or independently. Recently I have been involved in strategic planning of a new hospital in our community in relation to chaplaincy concerns.
Recently, in light of some current issues in our church, I have become to be strongly interested in church unity. In addition, I continue to be interested in strengthening parish ministry through youth, outreach, passing on the faith, and education of professional church workers (seminary).
I am very optimistic about our church and amazed at how much potential she has within in her. If I were to imagine the ELCIC of the future I would envision a church that is a light in every community. Of concern is our ability to continue to be relevant in people's lives in a time when many people are disconnected from faith communities.
