I have been on the Court of Adjudication for the past 4 years and am currently President. I am also a lawyer in private practice.
Continuity and legal experience. The Court does not meet that often, and in the last 4 years has only met by conference call and e-mail. An appeal we were to hear was abandoned by the applicant before the hearing date. However, when a matter arises before it, it is important that the members are clear about procedures and precedents and can act decisively.
More relevant for the Court of Adjudication is that it act with fairness and impartiality and that the limited scope of its jurisdiction is clear to all including the national church.
I hope that the chruch becomes more ecumenical and forges further ties with other denominations as it has with the Anglicans.
