Bill Kuehnbaum

Trinity Sudbury, ON

Past Experience:

Secretary/Treasurer, Ontario Public Service Employees Union - a full-time elected position responsible for the financial affairs of a 100,000 member union with 250 employees, 20 offices, a $50 million budget and $25 milliion strike fund.

Professor of Mathematics, Cambrian College Sudbury - responsible for development and presentation of courses in statistics, math of finance and calculus.

Chair of Church Council - Trinity Lutheran Church, Sudbury.

Union chair of Ontario's Community Colleges bargaining team - responsible for negotiating complete collective bargaining agreement for 8000 teachers in Ontario's 25 community colleges.

Board Member - Sudbury United Way, Sudbury Manitoulin Training and Adjustment Board, Cambrian College of Applied Arts and Technology, Sudbury and District Labour Council.

From 1999 to 2003, I was responsible for the selection and training of union pension trustees for 4 major Ontario pension plans and for the development of union pension policies. Now retired but continue to develop and teach courses on pension issues.

I have earned both Bachelors and Masters degrees in mathematics from the University of Waterloo.

I have been on the Executive Committees of most of the Boards mentioned above where I have regularly been involved with corporate governance and strategic planning processes.

Issues of Concern:

I want our Church to be a positive force for creating and sustaining a fair and just society and to be welcoming and comforting to all who show up at our door. Church employees must be compensated fairly, have bearable working conditions and be treated with respect.

Hopes for the Church:

I hope for a growing membership, an abundant supply of skilled pastors and a cadre of retired pastors who have long and secure retirements on the pensions they expected.
