The 9th Biennial Convention of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC) was declared in session by Bishop Raymond Schultz at 3:25 p.m.
Rev Marty Tuer lead the opening devotion.
Bishop Schultz welcomed the members of Church Council and the Synod Bishops, and introduced the parliamentarian, Peter Thede. He also introduced special guests—the Rev. Canon Alyson Barnet-Cowan from the Anglican Church of Canada, Rev Randy Lee of ELCA, Kathy Magnus, Director of RONA, Bishop NP from Colombia, Pastor Jose Ariza, Lindy Wozniak, National president of ELW, Ruth Vince, Executive Director of ELW, Hildy Thiessen, Director of Group Services, Ruth Jensen, Leila Schultz, Rick Fast of CLWR, Rev Michael Mills, Augsburg Fortress representatives, ELCIC staff (Paul Johnson, Elaine Sauer, David Pfrimmer, Barb Fast, Toni Walker, Susan Taylor, Ida Bachmann, Kelvin Krieger, Rhonda Lorch).

NC 03 01 MS that the agenda of the 9th Biennial Convention of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada be adopted as presented.
The first ballot for the election of Secretary was distributed.
Bishop Raymond Schultz offered comments about his report found on pages B1-11 in the Bulletin of Reports. The Bishop responded to questions from the floor.
Rev Susan Johnson presented a report on the LWF Assembly.
Rhonda Lorch offered some "housekeeping" comments.
Rev Marty Tuer closed the sitting with prayer.
