Sieglinde M. Malmberg

Member of Christ Lutheran Church, Chilliwack BC

Past Experiences or Positions:

I have been a member of the Lutheran church from childhood. As a young adult, served as the chair of my Luther League. In the past 20 years, I have been president of the church council of 2 congregations, served as a council member in 4 congregations. I have worked as a member of worship committees and have been a speaker and facilitator. I continue to serve as a member of the Bishop’s Advisory Committee in BC, investigating sensitive situations and make recommendations for action. My training and education is in Adult Education, and my professional experience is over 25 years in Human Resource Management. I have worked and travelled internationally. I currently serve on 2 boards, one is non-profit and one is corporate. I bring the human resources perspective to the work.

Strengths and Gifts:

Consensus building; facilitation and mediation skills; writing and editing, the ability to closely listen to other's points of view, the ability to assist a group in reaching solutions with maximum support from group members.

Issues of Particular Interest:

I am passionate about inclusion, making the church a place for everyone. Worship and liturgy are areas in which I love to work, and congregational renewal is a particular interest for me

Concerns and Hopes for the Future of the ELCIC

My hope for the future of the ELCIC is that we can find a way to ignite the hearts and minds of the people, so that the church can experience the type of growth in number and commitment it is experiencing in other parts of the world. I am concerned that individual congregations do not see the ELCIC as relevant, and that there may be a move away from supporting it.
