Maaika Froelich

Member of Trinity Lutheran Church, London ON

Past Experiences or Positions:

Have served more than 20 years in various capacities on Church Council and committees in my home congregation, including 3 years as council chairperson.; Lay delegate to one National Church and three Eastern Synod conventions; Served as member, chairperson and editor of Tackle Box, on Eastern Synod Witness Sub-committee. ; Member of planning team for 2001: A Faith Odyssey. ; Serves as Eastern Synod representative on ELCIC Adult Catechumenate Task Force. ; Presently serving as chairperson of Eastern Synod’s Congregational Life Working Group for Witness. ; Have participated actively in several community volunteer organizations involved in education, land use planning and wetlands preservation. ; Have worked as a teacher at high school and university levels and am presently a Learning Skills Counsellor at the University of Western Ontario.

Strengths and Gifts:

Strong analytical skills. Patient and willing to listen to various points of view, evaluate large amounts of information and contribute to reasonable and workable decisions. Commitment to "getting the job done" once decisions have been made.

Issues of Particular Interest:

Witness, learning and youth ministries.; How the different levels of the church (National Church, synods, conferences, local congregations) work together to carry out our mission.

Concerns and Hopes for the Future of the ELCIC

I hope and pray that we will continue to reach and influence people, inside and outside the church, with the good news of God's love for the world, even as we face growing constraints of limited resources (both money and people).
