Accompaniment
An overarching aspect of the ELCIC’s methodology in the area of Global Mission is accompaniment. Walking together in solidarity, practicing interdependence and mutuality with companions.
The Biblical passage that informs this is the Walk to Emmaus (Luke 24:13-35).
Relationships
The ELCIC is engaged in several types of relationships in the area of Global Mission. They include: Companion Synods, bilateral relationships. overseas personnel, and with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
Companion Synod Relationships
The ELCIC has companion relationships with the Lutheran churches in Peru, Argentina, Colombia, Guyana, and Cameroon.
Bilateral Relationships
The ELCIC has bilateral relationships, or church-to-church relationships, with the Lutheran churches in Peru, Argentina, Colombia, Guyana, and Cameroon, as well as Jordan and the Holy Land and El Salvador.
Overseas Personnel
The ELCIC currently has two long-term overseas positions: Rev. Brian Rude, El Salvador; Rev. Fran Schmidt, Peru. In addition, the ELCIC currently supports three local pastors: Rev. Yoli Zavaleta, Peru; Rev. Gustavo Gomez, Argentina; and Rev. Sergia Utz, Argentina.

Global service is a key element of the ELCIC’s partnership with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's (ELCA) Global Mission. The ELCA makes available opportunities for global service to ELCIC members.
