What is KAIROS?
KAIROS is a Canadian church-based organization dedicated to promoting human rights, justice and peace, viable human development, and solidarity among the peoples of the Earth. KAIROS is a faithful and decisive response to God’s call for respect for the Earth and justice for its people.
Through KAIROS, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC) works ecumenically with eleven other churches and church agencies to carry out education and advocacy for justice, aboriginal rights, Canadian social development (including anti-poverty work, refugees and migrants, and health), ecological justice, education and animation, global economic justice, global partnerships, and international human rights.
At the heart of KAIROS’ work are the KAIROS communities and network. Some local "KAIROS communities" have a specific focus for their work, such as Aboriginal rights or anti-poverty advocacy. Others take a more general approach. New members are always welcome.
KAIROS networks extend into every region of Canada, and our partners are found in
every region of the globe. These partners include you.
Through the KAIROS network, you, your place of worship and your community can join others across the country and around the world in educating and acting for real change. Consider joining or starting a local group, using KAIROS resources in your community, or finding out more about KAIROS’ partners.

Start a KAIROS Community!
If no group exists in your area, form one! We have a network coordinator to offer you ideas and advice, and a network handbook to give you step-by-step support. Your regional reps can connect your group to interested people and regional activities.
Attend a regional event! Check out our events listings for activities going on across the country.
Link up! Tell us about yourself or your group. Maybe you already are involved in a denominational committee, or work on your own but want to be kept in the loop. Stay connected through Kairos Times, a bi-weekly email publication from the national office. Make a connection with your region’s rep to get ongoing regional news.
Download and use online resources! Most resources can be found in our catalogue. Have a look at each major program area and the current campaign page-- there are many articles and reflections available in each section of the site. Check the national events page.
If you want to learn or talk about KAIROS, see our presentation script and the KAIROS bible study (both are PDF files).
